We had shrimp fra diovlo and chicken stuffed with prosciutto. Both dishes were good, but it's a shame that the portions have gotten smaller as time goes by. Even the bread got smaller. Used to serve a loaf;now they give you something so small it barely served the 3 of us. Neat place- too bad.

I love Buca di Beppo, this is my restaurant. Before I moved to Florida I ate at this restaurant (chain) once a week for 2 or 3 years. I'm going to cut this place some slack since it just opened and the wait staff isn't in their groove yet. Our waiter was 20 years old and not use to Italian style serving, were you get clean fresh plates with each course. That being said, they nailed my dinner. The bruschetta was absolutely perfect, and the chicken parmesan was tender and flavorful. The couple that was with me was blown away at the portion sizes. You will always leave Buca stuffed and carrying left overs. It is hard to imagine this place is a chain because it tastes like mom is in the kitchen cooking.

I was "treating" myself to lunch at the bar. After waiting 15 minutes for someone to finally speak to me, I ordered penne marinara, mixed green salad & a draft beer. The beer came 10 minutes later, the the pasta (w/thick, acidic sauce that had obviously been in a steam table too long), & then my salad 5 minutes after the pasta (which they asked if I would like first, & I said yes). I never was asked how the food was, never received bread or salt & pepper, or cheese. The salad dressing was salty on wilted greens, the pasta was over cooked smothered in thick bitter tomato sauce- inedible. 15 minutes later, a young lady strolled by to ask if I needed a box for my barely touched food. No thanks, paid my check- lesson learned- never again.

SHOCKED by the negative reviews!!! I love Buca and eat here with my family as often as possible. The good is delicious and authentic, in fact many Bucas (however not this one) having a dining table INSIDE OF THE KITCHEN where you can watch the chefs prepare your food! So don't believe the negative reviews about "store bought" food or salad. Service is always fantastic and the food always delicious. I recommend trying the spicy pastas and the Italian sodas.

Dined here yesterday for the early bird special (4-6pm) and I gotta agree with all the other negative reviews.... Lousy experience but can't blame our server. Roland did greet us promptly and made a drink suggestion. I got my typical Miller lite, lol. Although I must say he very unfamiliar with the specials/menu he had to ask manager/coworkers for answers to our questions (which half of them didn't even know). While making small talk I found out Roland had only been with the company a week, so I don't fault him for our experience. He tried hard and did good for his first week here. He very attentive and kept table clean. He checked on us numerous times but not the smothering waiter type though. Now to the food, must say it was crappie, over cooked pasta, not enough sauce and very very BLAND food. They start you off with bread and olive oil. Omg the olive oil was so disgusting, uggh idk what happen there. I ordered the baked ziti, and it came with a cesar salad and garlic bread for $8.95 (early bird special). They claim it's enough for two but no way, small portion. My cesar salad had WAY to much dressing, my pasta was very over cooked and extremely bland. My mother had the other early bird special Vodka pasta something and same thing with her dish. Although her salad was fine. My son ordered the kids alfredo and he didn't like it either and there isn't to much my son won't eat. I'm not sure what happen with this location but ours in Ohio is great. They really need to fix this one.. Although I'm pretty big on second chances, this one won't get one unless I'm having drinks at bar. Roland we don't fault you for the lousy food.... Thanks for everything

Most of my ratings are 1-3 stars when it comes to Italian food- very picky. And I have to be totally blown away by both the food and experience to give a five star rating. Although not blown away by this place, I was pleased. I came here for lunch at 2 pm on a Monday with my mother and her friend. The place was empty and got great service. My mother and her friend were totally enamored by the atmosphere - each room having a different theme- the Sinatra room, the Pope room, the Wine room - etc. I had the tomato basil soup and it was absolutely delicious! Nicely spiced and a generous portion. The baked ziti was very good- mozzarella baked through and a lot of sauce with chunks of meat- delicioso! My mother had the ravioli and was pleased. Her friend had the eggplant and ate it all- but stated the marinara sauce was bland. I was very pleased and will come back again. My reason for not giving five stars is because a 16 ounce domestic beer is $4.50 and an order of garlic bread (average in size ) is $4.95. I am not cheap but usually Italian restaurants provide all you can eat garlic bread with the price of the meal. The lunch time portion was perfect for me and my guests took home doggie bags. I was quite surprised by all the negative comments- the food was very good. I guess it all depends on what time you get there and who is working. Well- when it comes to hit or miss places- I guess I hit this one at a good time.

DELISH!!! Food was to die for!! Staff was super and prices were very reasonable. Portions are HUGE so plan on feeding more than what the menu says. Will definitely be going to one close to home!

I have enjoyed Bucca locations in Indianapolis, Indiana and Naples, Florida but the Fort Myers location seems like a different experience. Bucca has decent food and a full bar but the big draw for me has always been the ambiance. They are normally dimly lit with a charming decor and tight spaces and hallways representing a traditional Italian restaurant you would find in a neighborhood like Baltimore's Little Italy. Unfortunately this store does not follow that concept. Instead of being a free standing building this Bucca is attached to the Edison Mall and in a location that has seen multiple restaurants fail over the last thirty years. This location also has windows letting in too much light and the rest of the restaurant is lit with new LED lights which emit a bright, white light and throw off the charm of the original Bucca concept. People in Fort Myer's know the Edison Mall for it's seedy neighborhood (sex shops across the street) and high crime rate. The home office of Bucca di Beppo didn't do it's homework when scouting for Ft. Myers locations. If you have to eat in the Edison Mall then Bucca di Beppo is as good as any of your other choices: traditional food court fair and a place called the Elephant Bar which combines just about everything you would find a Denny's plus sushi. Just a few miles south is the Bell Tower mall with Grimaldi's Pizza of Brooklyn, Mimi's Cafe, Bistro 41, The Blue Point Oyster Bar, Daruma Japanese Steak house and Cantina Laredo. They have everything except an Italian restaurant so if you want to stick with that then stay at Bucca but if you want to eat out after dark you are better off in a different neighborhood.

I went here for dinner with 2 friends. The spinach dip was good but no way did it provide enough for 3 people. The entrees, including pasta and a chicken dish, were good but not huge portions at all. We spent like $60 in total and none of us got a take home plate. Pretty good food but the portions sound like a lot more than they are.

FOOD POISON AND BAD SERVICE. My husband and I have been here twice... The first time the food wasn't bad at all. The service however SUCKED. we saw our waiter three times... He took our order... Brought us the food then brought the check... Never once refilled our drinks or brought any napkins. I felt a little sick afterwards but didn't think anything of it. No big deal. Never thought it was from the food. We received a coupon for a free pasta so we decided to try it again and of course you share entrees here so we shared the pasta. We both got food poisoning. That was the only thing we had eaten together in the past few days. It was definitely from here. If you have ever had food poisoning you know how bad it is.... and if you haven't.... Trust me... You don't want to.... DO NOT GO HERE

How does an Italian Restaurant runout of meatballs by 5:30?! Strange!! The service was on the slow side -- and this was a summer night -- season might be rough. Beyond the missing meatballs, the food was decent, and the kids liked sharing the meals and really enjoyed the big ol' brownie sundae for dessert. Nothing special, but a decent place for kids -- if it's a date night, there are better places in town.

We had reservations for party of 20, and apparently they were not prepared. There was only 1 server for the entire group so needless to say the service was poor at best. For an Italian restaurant, the only thing Italian is the name. We really were expecting much better. After eating dinner we ordered dessert and coffee. The tables were never cleared and no new plates or silverware were brought out. After having another server track down ours, she informed us there were 2 other large groups and only 3 servers. Very disappointed.

Very good for lunch! The Daily Special was half of a Chicken Parm Sandwich with a cup of Tuscan Bean Soup and a mixed green salad. An excellent deal with plenty of food and a great price. The atmosphere was excellent and the service is exceptional. Desiree was top-notch and the manager was professional and witty. I will dine here again and recommend to friends.

Service was excellent but we weren't impressed with the food. We stopped in for lunch and were happy to find that they do offer a lunch menu of smaller portions for one. We got a panini and a pasta dish. For the price I would say that the portions were OK but the flavor of the food is bland and very boring. We weren't impressed enough to go back.

Nice place especially since its in the mall, while the food isn't bad I have to admit the only time I come here is when my company reserves the entire private room for us, and usually well we have to eat is already pre made in a buffet style, so its not like I picked out the an entrée item from their menu. Regardless I've never ate a bad peace food.

My husband and I was doing some shopping and decided to stop here. We flew in from Chicago. The food was fresh, the drinks were great! We had the lasagna and the stuff chicken. We were stuffed and still had food to take home. Two people can eat from one dish. Our server Lee was very informative and very polite. The hostess helped us with a few selphies. I would recommend the food and the desert. We would love to return here once we are back in Fort Meyers!

I have eaten here before as well as other ones in Tampa and orlando. They have good service, good food, and big portions. Today I would say the spighatti with meatballs was bland Usually I do not need salt, pepper, and parmigiano cheese...but today it needed it. I spoke to the manager to check.

When we lived in Austin, TX we visited our local Buca regularly. They made us feel like we were part of the family... Like an Italian family. The food was amazing, the staff was attentive, and the Manager Ron Hurley always went above and beyond to make sure we always had amazing experience! This Buca... while the manager on duty was nice... that's about all I can be positive about. Our server was attentive until the manager left, We had to beg for water... our calamari came out in microscopic pieces over cooked... When our dinner came out, (we ordered the stuffed chicken parm with basil pesto sauce and a side of rigs with sauce) the chicken looked great, but the pasta had little to no sauce on it, and the pasta itself looked as if it was the last of the days food, dry and shriveled. Now granted, we arrived around 8 on a Sunday, but if you are going to charge $$$ kind of prices... You had better make sure the food is comparable to the charge. When we were ready to leave, we attempted to get the attention of some servers passing by to help locate our server... We were absolutely ignored. My husband had to get up and go to the where the servers cash out the checks and ask one of them to send our server to the table with the check. I mentioned that we were regulars at our local Buca in Austin, TX ... Sadly, it won't be the same at this location.

Poor Service. Wait staff was over loaded even before the rush hit. Manager did not care to hear about our experience when we were leaving. Poor quality food. The Caesar Salad was the high point. Bread was cold. Dip was only olive oil and balsamic vinegar, no spices. Pasta was over cooked and soggy. The Prosciutto Stuffed Chicken was over baked, cheese had drained out, could not find any prosciutto. Small portions of bread, pasta, marinara and chicken. The dining room, Wine Room, was crowded and very loud. Benches were unsteady. Prices were excessive for poor food and service. They make Olive Garden look good.

For a chain restaurant this place is great. It is family style Italian food. I'm from NYC and it is sometimes hard to find good Italian outside the major cities. I lucked out and found this place. It was a birthday dinner for 10 people and we ordered everything under the sun. 3 pastas, and 2 meats. Ordered feticide Alfredo which was creamy and thick, on the meat side we ordered chicken salmabatiico which is in lemon sauce with artichokes and capers, was tender and delicious. Great for groups.

Excellent Food ... authentic and not covered in gravy (aka SAUCE) and fluffy bread ready for olive oil! Everyone is friendly, attentive without being invasive. Seems expensive yet food is awesome and meant to be shared!

Very poor Italian food at ridiculous prices. We had Ziti and garlic bread and with tip cost $35. Ziti was not hot and the marinara sauce was bland. This was our first time there and we only had lunch. We will never return. We would not recommend this restaurant.

Poor service, extremely small portions, mediocre food. Some one above was shocked at the negative reviews, I'm shocked at the positive reviews. Even though it was off season and definitely not crowded, it took us close to 15 minutes before our drink order was taken. After delivering the drinks, the waiter explained Buca's procedures and then disappeared for another 15 minutes. The waiter, when available made sure we knew he was being taken away from a TV show he and other staffers were watching in the bar. When we finally received our dinners the "family style" servings would have scarcely fed a family of two, never mind the 4 at our table. We then were treated to bland, spice less sauces on over cooked pasta which accompanied the skimpy veal parm. Our final reward on this truly forgettable evening was an outrageous bill for poor service and lousy food. There are so many better choices, especially for Italian - don't waste your time or money here.

This was the most disappointing visit ever. We decided to come here after our son's christening with a party of 20 people after Olive Garden wouldn't take a reservation. The price of the food was grossly over priced and the portion size hasn't changed. The service was disgusting. From the moment we walked through the door the manager went out of her way to tell us what she COULDN'T do for us even if we didn't make the request. For example no one in my party requested the king table because we knew our party was too large, yet she came to me and began this lengthy explanation about why she couldn't grant our request. Then I asked for a sling, the restaurant doesn't have a sling and she flipped a high chair around to place the baby seat in it, ironically there was a huge warning not to put the seat in that way. To finish her rampage, my dad attempted to pay for his meal with a Visa gift card and instead of addressing him directly and discreetly she announces to the entire table that she can't accept the gift card and the explanation as to why. Our server stood at one side of the table and shouted at us and expected us to shout back at him. The air conditioner was broken. There wasn't one good thing about this experience, which is sad because we came across country from California and this was our last opportunity to be with the family before going back.

The mangers were very nice and attentive. Our server needs some improvement. We sat for 15 minuets before we were even greeted. As soon as he came we ordered our drinks and entree to share. We had the baked ziti with one meatball on the side. It took close to another 10 minutes to get our drinks. This was pretty frustrating. We aren't ones to complain, but If we ever go back it's for the food.. Not the service. Our food arrived soon after our drinks and I was starving. I just wish we would have been greeted sooner. The food was pretty good. The small portion size was perfect for the two of us. I love pasta so this was the perfect place. The only reason I am giving three stars is because the food was delicious. We enjoy the family style dining, but the service was definitely not up to our standards.

I have eaten at a few different buccas over the years and always had an average experience.... You can get a lot of mediocre italian food in a place with extra "ambiance" (aka random stuff on walls) I felt compelled to review after my most recent experience at the Edison Mall location. To be very fair, we were a large (20+ppl) group, and mostly separate checks, which I can appreciate is difficult, and also why I usually don't mind the auto-gratuity. HOWEVER, we had made a reservation for a 20+ group well in advance, and I cannot think of a single good reason why ONE server would be assigned to a group of 20 spread out over 3 tables. Our group was ready to eat, drink, and be merry, but it is hard to do so when you can't get anything ordered because the server is constantly away from the table or doing something else. It is even harder when you have to ask for everything from water refills to bread and then olive oil / butter FOR the bread, and then plates, and then red pepper... and on it went. I have seen difficult groups, and we were not difficult. No special requests, no unusual needs- but it was a challenge to get the basics, and it took so long, we were just happy to get the orders in. I am pretty sure our whole table would have gone for at least another round of drinks, dessert and coffee, but our server never even asked, and it was too hard to get her attention. She never offered coffee or dessert- she seemed obsessed with clearing empty plates off the table, when we finally asked for the checks, she kept on clearing plates. I have no idea what she (or the management) was thinking. Bucca has a menu that is nice for groups, (sharing sizes) and seems to be set up for large groups, but if the way our group was handled is any indication.... I would not recommend. Also- I don't think the food is anything special, so I would try Bucca if you really enjoy decor that involves lots of pictures and other stuff on every wall surface.

Delicious italian food top notch ingredients it's not a typical chain like Olive Garden or caraba's this place has More of an authentic touch. I am so glad they have one in Fort Myers I used to drive down to Naples just to have their food. recommendations: I would try is their breaded veal over pasta so good ,if you're getting salad you have to try the Anti pasta it's delicious that and the bread alone is a meal at itself. If you coming in a group of two you might want to share their portions are HUGE! It's a must try if you enjoy a good Italian cuisine.

If your idea of fun dining is screaming kids, bad service, mediocre food and no air conditioning then this is the place you are looking for. Not one aspect of our meal tonight was worth mentioning. It was terrible, seriously though if you are going to ignore my review do yourself a favor and call beforehand and ask about the AC, you will thank me later.

Another corporate chain that is squeezing nickels till they shit pennies. Real Italian? They will join the list of others who have failed in this spot. Buca is owned by Planet Hollywood, ya that's what I said are they still in business? Service was terrible on our visit, food was OK, but prices were high as everything was Ala carte. Bar was empty and bartender was standing on the beer cooler cleaning liquor bottles on the shelves. He said he was also the bartender/janitor/dishwasher. Don't waste your time or money these guys are just like Olive Garden fast food WalMart style.

Service- Timeliness from being seated to departure was excellent! Drink orders were fullfilled within minutes and food arrived within 10 minutes nice and hot. Bill presentation and payment with change was very speedy. Haley was an adequate server but not over the top. Kudos to the kitchen staff though. I rate this category as a 4 out of 5 points. Atmosphere- The decor was totally appropriate for an Italian restaurant as well as proper music at an appropriate level. The temperature was cool but not cold and it smelled like a Sicilian home with mama and grandmama cooking in the kitchen. I rate this category as a 5 of 5 points! Food- I had the lasagna and my wife had the ravioli. One of the best lasagnas I've ever had with fresh, tasty ricotta cheese and served appropriately hot. The sauce on both dishes was exquisite. Bread was soft and tasty but the oil and herb dip left a little to be desired. I rate this category as a 4 of 5 points. Portions- The size of the meal was very adequate and appropriate for the individual. I rate this category as a 3 of 5 points. Value- Our bill came to about $28 which also includes drinks. This feels like an upscale restaurant but not at upscale prices for the average portions. Enough to eat but not enough to warrant a leftover box. I rate this category as a 4 of 5 points. Overall score is a 20 which makes it near the top end of the above average rating. I would definitely recommend a return here! Thank you for checking out my reviews! Just wanted to inform you, the internet surfer, that I am about as average as an average person can be. I am of average height and weight with an average appetite on an average budget. My reviews are meant to be informative and honest but not cruel and personal. There may be, on occasion, some brutal commentary but only if absolutely necessary in the interests of informing the potential customer of gross neglect or misconduct of the establishment. Likewise, praise may be extremely high and credit earned where credit is due. Any comments or recommendations on how to improve my ratings is absolutely welcomed and appreciated. Here is just a handy guide to inform you of the categories and scoring system I use for my reviews. I judge restaurants on five categories: 1. Service- I feel that a server should visit you at least 6-8 times in an hour. I base this number on the timeliness of certain events that occur at most dining settings. These events include seating to drinks, drinks to ordering, ordering to food served, food served to payment and payment to departure. 2. Atmosphere- The atmosphere/ ambience is based on the four of the five senses. The temperature, smell, music and genre or decor. 3. Food- I base my reviews in this category on taste, freshness and presentation. 4. Portions- This category is based on the size of the meal and the quantity and availability of condiments such as salad dressing, sugar, salt, pepper, etc. An average portion size is considered about the size of your fist so that is what I will be basing my review on. 5. Value- I consider value as how much food you get for the price. I think most average restaurants price a meal between $10 and $15. As an example, an average portioned meal for two people should run about $20 to $30. Average Joe Reviews uses a scoring system for each category which is then added to determine a final score. The ratings are on a scale from 1 to five for each category, 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. When points are totalled for each category, the final score shows as follows: 5 points = Worst. No review can be lower than this according to the scoring system but I may comment that it could be. No return visit would definitely be recommended. 6-10 points = Below average. No return visit would be recommended but would advise the customer to return as their personal preference dictates. 11-15 points = Average. Always a recommendation for a return visit. Let me note that I do not consider this rating as negative in any way. 16-20 points= Above average. Always a recommendation for a return visit. 21-24 points = Nearly perfect. Always a recommendation for a return visit. This is not a perfect rating but it's close and has some room for improvement but doesn't necessarily need it. 25 points= Perfect! A perfect score in all categories! Always a recommendation for a return visit. In the Yelp! Star scores, my reviews will show anything from 21 points or higher as 5 stars. Let it be said, this rating would be nearly impossible to achieve.

Absolutely *top notch* service (including a cake, gift basket and other birthday treats) for my great grandmother's 107th birthday with our family and 2 dozen other people. They were very respectful with our last-minute dinner choice changes and had at least one waiter at our table at almost all times. The owner and manager even stopped by a few times to welcome us and make sure we were having a great time. They must be new to the area (this is the first review) - and they're definitely making an impact! They even took pictures of our family, developed them and framed them during the two hours we were there for. After changing birthday restaurants for each of the last four years, we think we finally found a place to come back to!

Great for meetings or group events. Had a dinner meeting and Michael the manager was very accommodating. The food is great and family style sharing is so much fun. For dessert, you must have the tiramisu! To die for.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
